M. Riley Scott

Riley Scott focuses her practice on litigation and environmental law. She has extensive experience in both trial work and water quality issues.

Prior to joining the firm, Riley served as legal counsel for Colorado families in Domestic Relations litigation, including divorce, child custody, and protection order cases. Prior to passing the Bar, she was a Law Clerk for a mid-sized family law firm in Denver and provided legal research, analysis, and draft filings to a team of trial attorneys.  While in law school at the University of Colorado, Riley was a Student Attorney in the Juvenile & Family Law Clinic where she represented respondent parents in Dependency & Neglect proceedings, as well as a Teaching Assistant in the legal writing department.


Riley also has experience as the Laboratory Analyst for the City of Mill Valley’s wastewater treatment plant in Marin County, California, where she was a Certified Environmental Compliance Inspector through the California Water Environment Association. She conducted extensive physical, chemical, and biological wastewater testing and reporting in compliance with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit requirements and drafted standard operating procedures for laboratory testing.  Riley’s master’s thesis through the University of Plymouth, U.K., helped develop a sampling protocol for British estuaries polluted by heavy metals based on statistical data modeling.
