Colorado Solar Energy Settlements

Kaplan Kirsch & Rockwell represented the Solar Energy Industries Association in a multiparty, multidocket settlement approved by the Colorado Public Utilities Commission between Xcel Energy and more than 20 renewable energy and customer-focused interest groups.  The settlement both expands solar access to low-income customers and significantly increases Colorado's capacity for solar energy by facilitating the development of a new 50-megawatt solar facility, providing for the acquisition of more than 300 megawatts of community solar gardens and distributed solar.  The Firm’s representation also resulted in the elimination of a monthly grid charge for solar customers that had been proposed by Xcel.
