ADA Accessibility Projects at Eight Stations

Kaplan Kirsch represented the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Construction & Development (C&D) on a federally funded Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility project including eight stations throughout the five boroughs of New York City. The project is part of MTA’s ongoing efforts to increase ADA accessibility throughout its system. For this ADA project, MTA C&D advanced its use of design-build contracting through refreshed contracting and technical specification forms, paired with procurement of long-term performance-based maintenance. MTA C&D chose this approach to reduce project costs and expedite project delivery. As a result, the selected proposal came in below project cost estimates.
