Kaplan Kirsch represented Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Construction & Development (C&D) on a federally funded ADA accessibility project including eight stations throughout the five boroughs of New York City. The project is part of the MTA’s ongoing efforts to increase ADA accessibility throughout its system. For this project, MTA C&D elected to advance its use of design-build contracting through refreshed contracting and technical specification forms paired with procurement of long-term performance based maintenance. MTA C&D elected this approach as part of its efforts to reduce project costs and expedite project delivery. Reflecting this, the selected proposal came in below project cost estimates.
