MTA ADA Accessibility Projects at Eight Stations

Kaplan Kirsch represented the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Construction & Development (C&D) on a federally funded Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility project including eight stations across the five boroughs of New York City. The project is part of MTA’s ongoing efforts to increase ADA accessibility throughout its system. For this ADA project, MTA C&D advanced its use of design-build contracting. It refreshed its contracting and technical specification forms. It also paired design-build with procurement of long-term, performance-based maintenance. MTA C&D chose this approach to reduce costs and expedite project delivery. As a result, the selected proposal came in below project cost estimates.
