On September 30, 2013, the Task Force on Wildfire Insurance and Forest Health delivered its Report to the Governor, identifying a series of recommended actions for reducing risk of losses from wildfires in the wildland-urban interface (WUI). The recommendations are designed to create a coordinated system that will require Colorado homeowners to share in the burden of the risks and to promote changed behaviors through a combination of legal requirements, increased awareness, and incentives. These recommendations will be further debated, developed, adapted, and implemented by the Governor, the Colorado General Assembly, state and local governments, public-private partnerships, and the insurance industry. Kaplan Kirsch & Rockwell partner Catherine van Heuven attended Task Force meetings and prepared the Report for the Task Force. For additional information, please contact Catherine van Heuven.
